A couple of months ago, I spent a few days with my sister in the the UK’s sunniest & premier seaside resort on the south coast; Eastbourne! During our short visit, we got to discover a few wonderful foodie places that served the most amazing food. So I decided to share my list of outstanding food places that you need to visit when you go to Eastbourne.
6 AWESOME FOODIE PLACES IN EASTBOURNE
Located on Eastbourne’s Eastern Seafront. You can enjoy a freely prepared meal with a glass of good wine in this lovely sunny restaurant, or if you’re not feeling having food then you can visit The Beach Deck for a pot of tea with a slice of cake! The restaurant is located right on the beach with the most stunning views! People like to visit this restaurant any time of the year, on a sunny day when the sea is calm and blue. Or on a cold day you can enjoy the magnificent view of the waves and the storms!
For starters we shared crisp and tender fried calamari dish and The Beach Deck platter which is a vegetarian sharing board with beetroot hummus, lemon and herb hummus, tzatziki, olives & pita bread. For main course, I had a fantastic fish pie made with salmon, smoked haddock & cod under a blanket of creamy mash served with peas (I’m a huge fan of fish pie and this one was absolutely delicious!). And my sister had the catch of the day which was locally sourced fish with new baby potatoes and spinach.
Enjoy the taste of Italy in Eastbourne! Established in 1967, Fusciardi’s Ice Cream is a family business that is located on Eastbourne’s Seafront. They offer a range of 18 different flavours of ice cream, and a variety of 24 sundaes.
Depending on the weather, you can choose to either sit indoors or outdoors. If you don’t fancy an ice cream, there is a range of snacks available at Fusciardi’s Ice cream. If you visit, make sure to try the plum cinnamon ice cream (it’s to die for!).
Visit the Garden Restaurant at the Grand Hotel Eastbourne for a fine traditional British meal created with a modern twist. This fancy restaurant is perfect for a date night with its relaxed and cosy but elegant atmosphere, but could be great for family dining if you visit between 6pm and 7:30pm.
When we first arrived we were greeted by the friendly staff who led us to the couches by the bar area. We were offered cocktails and canapés, and were given the menus to start ordering our food. Then we were showed to our table at the restaurant where we enjoyed a candle lit 3 course meal. The food was truly unique, delicious and the presentation of the food was very impressive.
Make sure not to forget about the dress code, gentlemen should wear jackets or collared shirts for dinner.
Located in the heart of Eastbourne. A newly opened arts cafe serves locally roasted coffee, artisanal breakfast, lunch, cakes and other treats. This cafe is ideal for a quiet morning when you just want to read your newspaper and enjoy a healthy delicious breakafast, or maybe bring your kids along for a meal and fun activities. This creative venue offers different activities for adults and children, such as pottery painting, yoga classes and art classes. It is also possible to hire the space for parties and private hire.
When we visited we decided to go for cake and tea, the cakes are fresh and the flavours are unique at Art House Cafe. I had a passion fruit coconut cake and it tasted like heaven! I didn’t even struggle to eat the whole slice!
This little deli cafe offers a beautiful array of freshly prepared salads, artisan sandwiches, pies, cheeses, and churcuterie and antipasti boards. We went for an antipasti board, which came with a range of cured meat cuts, marinated artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, hummus and baba ganoush. Everything was so fresh and delicious, I also tried their pies and I highly recommend that you go for their pies when you visit. This cafe also offers freshly roasted coffee to be enjoyed at the cafe or to take away.
6. Seasons
Seasons is located on Eastbourne’s Sovereign Harbour. Proves a delightful dining experience by the waterfront after a lovely walk around the harbour. Their mission is to stimulate your tastebuds, expand your flavour horizons and find your new, favourite food and drink! What I liked the most about this restaurant is the relaxed atmosphere, it’s the perfect place for you to come chill with your friends and enjoy good food. The staff were really friendly and helpful. And the food was also outstanding, I had fried calamari with salad for a starter, and for main I had grilled steak with chunky twice cooked skin-on chips paired with a glass of fine red wine.
