This was my first experience with Georgian food! And I couldn’t help it but fall in love with the extraordinary cuisine!
Me and my friend Nurka visited the lovely Georgian hotel restaurant this month, which is located in the centre of Moscow. The restaurant is quite big, and there are different halls with different styles. We were seated in the glass hall by the window overlooking the ice rink (owned by them) that you can use in the winter.
The service was great, staff were friendly and attentive. If you like meat, cheese, vegetables, and loads of spices and herbs, then this the place for you!
We had 2 glasses of fine red wine. And for the food we had 3 different dishes, and a dessert.
The first dish was assorted Pkhali, with green beans, tomato and beets, spinach, eggplant. These are pretty interesting as Pkhali is a traditional Georgian dish made of chopped and minced vegetables and is served as an appetiser. It’s basically between a salad and a spread as the texture is sort of smooth, and my favourite was the spinach one.
We also had some fried aubergine rolls, that were stuffed with nuts, greens, and pomegranate seeds.
The second plate was also a cold Georgian appetiser; Ajapsandali. Made with baked aubergine, peppers, tomatoes, and herbs. It’s a traditional dish and can be eaten warm as well. I enjoyed this as I love eating traditional veg dishes.
Khachapuri was definitely my favourite dish that we had that night! It’s also a traditional Georgian dish of cheese filled bread, served warm and the cheese tastes AMAZING! The filling consists of cheese, eggs, and many ingredients… The dough is fluffy and crispy on the sides which makes this just perfect! If you visit this restaurant, please make sure to order Khachapuri, and you can thank me later!
Digging in!
Nurka ordered a cup of Turkish coffee after all the food that we had, she said that it was pretty good.
A picture of the glass hall…
One more picture of the glass hall. I loved the chandeliers.
And finally, we had a Russian layered honey cake (Medovik) for dessert. It was definitely the best honey cake that I ever had in my entire life!!! Seriously, I now crave this everyday! It’s basically made of many biscuit layers, and filled with creamy honey cream. It was also decorated with slices of fresh berries.
All in all, we really did enjoy dinner at the Tiflis restaurant, we loved the pleasant atmosphere, and I would definitely recommend this one to my family and friends.
The restaurant is open everyday until 12AM. For more information visit their website.
